Fall Training Workshop - October 13, 2008

Participants will learn the principles of planning, forming, and implementing faculty study groups. Learning experiences include but are not limited to the following:

• Shaping a framework for getting started by aligning the study group with accepted staff development standards.
• Using rubrics to define context, process, and content of the study group.
• Shaping the culture of the study group (group norms, setting expectations, accountability, etc.)
• Group process techniques.
• Best practices and model plans.
• Using Action Research as a technique gathering data to monitor progress and assess effectiveness.
• Using a variety of tools to enhance the group’s efforts.
• Support networks.
• Follow-up expectations (logs, documentation, reporting, etc.)

The workshop will be held at the Kely inn in Bismarck, ND. Registration will begin at 9:30 AM. The workshop will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Lunch will be provided. Deadline to register is October 10, 2008!

One facilitator and one administrator from each group must attend the fall training workshop!
* Note: Reimbursement for travel, lodging, and substitutes will be available and is separate from the stipends available to each group.

Spring Sharing Workshop - April 22, 2008

Participants will reinforce their learning from Session 1, showcase their own learning and experiences, and learn promising practices from other groups. Learning experiences include but are not limited to the following:

• Review principles, standards, and assessment rubrics from Session 1.
• Showcase lessons learned and promising practices including content, process, or product.
• Strategies for building capacity and sustaining current efforts.
• Follow-up expectations and mechanics (sharing promising practices, reporting, graduate credit, etc.)

The workshop will be held at the Kelly Inn in Bismarck, ND. Registration will begin at 9:30 AM. The workshop will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Lunch will be provided. Deadline to register is April 20, 2009!

All NDCLP participants are encouraged to attend the Spring Sharing Workshop. Facilitators and administrators who are taking the Facilitation and Administration Graduate Credit are required to attend!
